40-Day Guided Prayer Journey - Day 30
STEP 1
THE PRAYER
Jesus, help me not rush past the times of mourning, but feel deeply the loss of love, the loss of life and the loss of what matters. Amen.
STEP 2
THE prayer MODEL
Pray
Pause
Listen
(until the Spirit is finished)
STEP 3
THE response
An intentional method for responding to Holy Spirit woven into the dialogue and heart of prayer. Use the blank space below each question to chronicle your journey.
Go back to Step 1 and repeat the prayer. Repeat this process until you sense the Spirit’s release from this prayer.
STEP 4
THE BIBLE
New International Version (NIV)
Romans 8:31-39
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Samuel 30:3-4
3 When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. 4 So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep.
Ecclesiastes 7:2-4
2 It is better to go to a house of mourning
than to go to a house of feasting,
for death is the destiny of everyone;
the living should take this to heart.
3 Frustration is better than laughter,
because a sad face is good for the heart.
4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure.
Lamentations 3:31-32
31 For no one is cast off
by the Lord forever.
32 Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.
STEP 5
THE NEXT STEP in the journey
When you see someone in your relationship circle hurting or going through difficult times, reach out to them, demonstrate love and pray with them.
