Episode 68: 7 Habits of Good Leadership - Part 1

Many leaders live by the power of routines. By that I mean, they do the same things each and every day, serving the broader purpose and calling for their lives, organization, team members, ministry, etc. In Part 1 of “7 Habits of Good Leaders”,  Lance identifies three of the seven habits, and encourage us to stay excellent and faithful to the regular routines that will make us good leaders.

An article posted by my friend Chuck Maher encourages healthy habits for practicing good leadership. In today’s podcast, I highlight three of the seven habits of good leadership and offer suggestions for how we can implement each idea.

  1. Show value for people.

    • Send weekly note cards/communicate consistently.

    • Express appreciation and gratitude.

    • Celebrate others identity and growth.

    • Spend time hearing their journey/story.

    • Pray with people.

    • Recognize special days.

    • Listen.

    • Demonstrate love through love languages.

  2. Be intentional.

    • Write things down utilizing task software, calendars, notebooks.

    • Follow through.

    • Take time to think, plan, delegate and celebrate.

    • Ask good, clarifying questions.

    • Reference notes about others on your team.

    • Answer, “How does what I’m believing, my attitude, actions and decisions help me fulfill my calling and purpose?”

    • Set goals. - Determine the “win.”

    • To what should I say “no”?

    • To what should I say “yes”?

    • Take the time to remove distractions.

    • Stay focused.

    • Live aware of Christ in me and how I’m doing.

  3. Keep learning.

    • Finish reading the books you begin.

    • Read daily.

    • Ask questions.

    • Take notes.

    • Teach, coach and mentor others.

    • Stay hungry.

    • Study.

    • Identity areas/subjects for growth.
