Episode 58: Courageous in Calling - Part 5

In this final talk in the series, “Courageous In Calling”, Lance reinforces the need to be committed to the season we find ourselves in. Our purpose and calling unfold seasonally, and when we understand that we can embolden our commitment to our calling.

Notes:

You were born for a purpose.

Mark Twain said, “The two greatest days of your life are the day you were born and the day you learn why.”

  1. You have a purpose.

  2. To know this purpose, know God.

  3. To fulfill this purpose, be trusting (know God).

  4. To fulfill this purpose, be courageous.

  5. To fulfill this purpose, be competent.

  6. To fulfill this purpose, know what season you’re in.

As one pastor said, “Learning begins at the place of application.”

Remember, as a leader…

  1. You teach what you know, you reproduce who you are.

  2. You can’t give what you don’t have.

  3. You can’t take people where you haven’t been.

Purpose and calling unfold seasonally for two reasons:

  1. Personal growth for personal fulfillment.

  2. Personal growth for purpose fulfillment.

How can we discover what season we are in?

  1. What are you celebrating?

  2. What challenges you?

How do we demonstrate commitment to our newly discovered season?

  1. Demonstrate conviction.

  2. Demonstrate courage.

  3. Demonstrate healthy character.

  4. Demonstrate competency.

  5. Demonstrate humility.

Important Reminders

  1. Have conversations with others.

  2. Rumble for truth

  3. Develop a plan.

  4. Live “power with”, not “power over”.

Application

  1. Write down your life purpose.

  2. List ways you can begin to fulfill your life purpose.

  3. Share with a friend.

  4. Commit your purpose and plan to Jesus. “Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."

  5. Begin.
